Need help reading our pages?

You can click the button found at the top right of our webpage which looks like this:

This is an accessibility function on our advice and information webpages called Recite. The Recite toolbar can help you to read and understand our information that works best for you.

The Recite function allows you to:

  • hear the text read aloud, in over 100 languages,
  • change the type and size of font, and the line height and character spacing,
  • change the background colour of the text,
  • translate the text into many different languages.

For desktop: To activate the Recite accessibility tool, locate the 'Turn on accessibility' icon in the top right-hand corner of the page, next to the 'Donate' button. Clicking this icon will enable the accessibility features.

For mobile: On mobile devices, access the Recite tool by scrolling to the right until you find the 'Turn on accessibility' icon. Tap this icon to activate the accessibility features.

You can read the Recite toolbar guide here.

If you have hearing or speech difficulties

Relay UK can help you to communicate over the phone. We are happy to receive Relay UK calls.

The Relay UK app allows you to:

  • type your message instead of speaking,
  • a Relay Assistant reads your message to the adviser on the call,
  • when the adviser replies, the Relay Assistant types their words back to you,
  • you can use it on a smartphone, tablet, or computer with the Relay UK app, or by using a textphone.

You can download the Relay UK app from the App Store, Google Play or the Microsoft Store onto your smartphone, tablet, or computer. It makes phone calls easier and more accessible for everyone.

You can find out more about Relay UK here.

If you have a stammer

If you have a stammer, our advisers are trained to help when you call our adviceline. You can also contact us on our webchat facility.

If the phoneline is quiet, our advisers might ask you to tap the phone so they know you are still there. We understand that people who stammer often find it harder to say certain words, like their name, town, or postcode. We will give you the space to talk and do everything we can to support you.

If English is not your first language

If English is not your first language our helpline includes a translation service called Language is Everything. Language is Everything provides interpretation and translation assistance.

  • To use Language is Everything you must call our helpline
  • An advisor will take your name and phone number and ask what language you speak.
  • The adviser will then end the call and contact Language is Everything.
  • Someone from Language is Everything will call you and translate in your chosen language.

Below you can find some factsheets in different languages and easy read.
